An FBI Background Check provides a detailed summary of a person's criminal record, often termed a "rap sheet." This report collates data from federal, state, and local law enforcement entities. Although businesses might require background checks for job prospects, only individuals can obtain their criminal history summary directly from the FBI.
 

Purposes of an FBI Background Check

 

  • International adoptions

  • Acquiring student visas

  • Legal court proceedings

  • Personal record inspection

  • Traveling abroad

  • Solicitor or lawyer requests

FBI Fingerprints Business Fee $60

  • An Authorized Recipient (AR) is an entity, whether governmental or nongovernmental, authorized by federal statute or executive order to receive fingerprint background check results.

  • ARs assess the suitability of prospective employees for employment purposes.

  • Those ARs issued an Originating Agency Identifier (ORI) number can streamline their fingerprint submissions through Approved FBI Channelers for more efficient processing.

  • It's important to note that not all employers are considered Authorized Recipients, and FBI approval is required.
