Who should get tested?

SCDHEC recommends the following people should get tested for COVID-19:

  • Anyone who has symptoms of COVID-19.

    • Those who are fully vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccine should be evaluated by their healthcare provider and tested for COVID-19 if indicated.

  • People without symptoms of COVID-19 such as:

    • People who have had close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19 should be tested at least five days after the contact. The date of the contact is considered day zero.

    • People not fully vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccine who are prioritized for expanded community screening for COVID-19.

    • People not fully vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccine who have been asked or referred to get testing by their school, workplace, healthcare provider, state, tribal, local or territorial health department.

Getting Tested!

When you arrive at the office, please remain in your vehicle, call or text the office at 803-949-5966 to let staff know you have arrived  and which test you would like administered. A collector will come to your vehicle for testing. You will receive your results via text/email within 24-48 hours. Rapid testing is available for a fee at this time.

What is Rapid Testing ?

Rapid test (also referred to as antigen test). This test detects protein fragments specific to the Coronavirus.  Results are very quick  results can be reported within 15 minutes.


What is PCR Testing ?

PCR test. PCR testing is considered the “gold standard” in SARS-CoV-2 detection. This test actually detects RNA (or genetic material) that is specific to the virus and can detect the virus within days of infection, even those who have no symptoms. Result time is longer, generally in the 1-3 day range but results can be in as little as 24 hours.
